The Origins of NID Housing
NID Housing has its roots in the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), which was founded in 1947 to promote the inclusion of African Americans in all aspects of the real estate industry. NAREB was a major advocate for several legislative achievements that informed and shaped NID's advocacy motivations and philosophy. NID's founding leaders, Mr. Ray Carlisle Sr., a prominent member of the Democratic Party, and Mr. Thom Holmes, a prominent member of the Republican Party, played crucial roles in the organization's early development.
